It was then that Xander Harris approached her. "Hi," he said, "you must be new here."
"Yeah," replied Yuffie, "my name's Yuffie Kisargi."
"Oh yeah," said Xander, "Giles mentioned you were coming today. You're Buffy's replacement."
Yuffie nodded. "That's right," she announced joyfully, "So when do we start killing vampires?"
"Kinda anxious to start,eh?" said Xander.
"You bet," replied Yuffie.
"Well," said Xander, "just follow me."
"Okay," said Yuffie. She followed Xander as he headed into the school and straight into the library.
"Hey Giles," Xander called out, "Buffy's replacement is here."
Rupert Giles looked up from the book he was reading and smiled slightly. "Good timing," he said, "I was just reading up on Spike and Druscilla."
"So what does the book say about the gruesome twosome?" asked Xander, sitting on a chair nearby.
"There's nothing about them that we don't already know," answered Rupert.
Just then Principal Snyder entered the library. "I figured I'd find you here," he said gruffly, "There are classes going on at this moment. Don't you two have any?"
"Actually," said Rupert, "I asked them to help me in here."
"If you asked them to help you," said Principal Snyder, "then why are they just sitting around?"
"We're on a break," answered Yuffie.
Principal Snyder walked over to Yuffie and glared harshly at her. "I hope you aren't a big a trouble maker as Buffy was," he said, "Because, if you are I'll make all your days here a nightmare." He then walked out of the library.
"Please tell me he's a vampire," said Yuffie, pulling out a stake from her backpack and attempting to follow him.
"Afraid not," answered Giles, grabbing hold of her sweater and restraining her.
"Well," said Xander, "I guess we should pretend to help you just to fool Snyder."
Rupert nodded and the three of them
began to stack books on the shelves.
Spike paced back and forth inside the warehouse he had fled to with Druscilla. "I can't believe we lost again to the slayer," he ranted.
"Calm down love," cooed Druscilla, "I heard that she's left town and there's a replacement for her."
"What difference does that make?" said Spike, "She's still a slayer?"
"But I heard if you give her something called materia," said Druscilla, "she could maybe persuaded to forget us."
"Do you think it could work?" asked Spike.
"Only one way to find out," answered Druscilla, holding up a glowing green orb.
Yuffie yawned as she listened to Giles about the history of Spike and Druscilla."God,"she thought,"how boring can he possibly get?"
"And then they completely vanished after Buffy sent Angel to hell," said Giles, "Any questions?"
"Nope," answered Yuffie, "so do we go vampire hunting now?"
"Patience," said Giles, "Vampires don't come out until after sunset. We'll go out in a few hours. Right now we're waiting for Xander, Cordelia, Willow and Oz to show up. Then we go vampire hunting as you call it."
"We're here," Xander called out.
"About time," Yuffie answered.
"A bit impatient, aren't we?" said Cordelia.
"What if I am?" asked Yuffie, "you want to start something?" She then smiled at Oz. "You're kind of cute," she said, "Why don't you and I go out later?"
Oz gulped and looked back at Willow who was glaring at Yuffie. "He happens to be MY BOYFRIEND!" hissed Willow.
"Your loss," said Yuffie, shrugging.
Giles laughed nervously. "Well then," he stuttered, "shall we be off?"
"Lead the way," said Yuffie.
The group left the school and made their way to the graveyard. As soon as they arrived, Spike and Druscilla stepped out from behind some trees.
"I knew you'd show up here first," said Spike.
"What is it you want?" asked Giles.
"We have a proposition for the new slayer," answered Druscilla.
"What is it?" asked Yuffie.
"We want you to forget about chasing us," said Spike, "In exchange, Druscilla and I will give you this."
Druscilla reached into her pocket and pulled out a piece of materia.
Yuffie's eyes lit up upon the sight of it."MATERIA,"she squealed in delight. She jumped on top of Druscilla and wrenched the green orb out of her hands.
"Hey!" shouted Spike, "you weren't supposed to get that til after you agreed to leave us alone!"
"Tough," replied Yuffie.
Druscilla moaned. "Spike," she cried out, "Help me. I've fallen, and I can't get up."
Spike helped Druscilla off the ground, then glared in Yuffie's direction. "You've hurt Druscilla," he hissed, "I'll make you pay!"
"Take a number," said Xander, "she tried to pick a fight with Cordelia."
"And she had the nerve to ask Oz out on a date," said Willow.
"All in favour of teaching Yuffie Kisagi a lesson," said Spike, "say 'aye'."
"Aye!" shouted the small group.
Yuffie chuckled nervously. "Come on guys," she said, backing up, "I didn't mean anything."
"Get her!" shouted Xander.
Yuffie screamed and ran off.
"Get back here Yuffie," yelled Willow.
"Yuffie? Yuffie?"
Yuffie opened her eyes and looked at Cloud's smiling face. "God," she muttered, "what a nightmare."
"We're glad to see you awake," said Cloud, "when Vincent attacked you, we thought you were a goner." He then handed her a stake.
"What's this for?" she asked.
"It's for Vincent," answered Barret.
"For Vincent?" said a puzzled Yuffie.
"That's right," answered Tifa, "It turns out he happens to be a vampire. He's terrorizing the countryside, and the population has asked us to destroy him."
"A vampire," whispered Yuffie.
"That's right,"said Red XIII, "Why,is there something wrong?"
"Wrong," said Yuffie, backing away, "Nothing's wrong.I...I just have something more important to do. Wish I could help." Yuffie then dropped the stake and ran off screaming towards Wutai.
"I wonder what's wrong with her?" said
Cloud as the group watched her disappearing form.
